New school voucher bill bound to be filibustered

by on November 16th, 2003

A school voucher bill for our nation’s capital is up for a vote, which sheds light on the larger national debate about school choice. In September, Democrats filibustered a Senate school voucher bill, and might do so again if brought to the floor in the future.

Senate Democrats filibustered the bill in late September, and after several days the bill was withdrawn. Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) vowed that it would be back.

Vouchers, judicial nominees–we’re going to need a constitutional filibuster quota amendment for the way Democrats prefer to conduct their governmental business.
